What does it mean to be a prepper?
Well this answer differs from person to person. In my opinion a prepper is a person who understands that life can change on a dime and wants to be prepared when the bottom falls out from underneath us.
Whether it's stockpiling gear and food to turning your home into an actual homestead Preppers are people who believe in self reliance when things get tough and refuse to rely on the government.
BUT…
Do we, yes I include myself in this. Really get it? Okay, sure we're ready if a terrible natural disaster happens or even as we all just experienced a two year pandemic where staying isolated for as long as possible was helpful for minimizing risk of catching the VID.
Do we here in the West understand what it means to really have to survive in an actual Government lockdown, Martial Law action? Let alone a full on totalitarian regime, just imagine being forced into the cities or ghettos where everything is constantly surveilled and monitored, your food, water, energy if YOU are found having more than your neighbor YOU are singled out as a hoarder or a person of wealth condemning YOU to either being outcast or even hung as a traitor to the people.
The pandemic lockdowns proved that having extra supplies on hand saved us from having to fight the unprepared that ravaged grocery stores across the nation and left our supply chain in shambles.
If you were paying attention it also showed you how easily you can be controlled and shut off. Just look how they deemed who was worthy to work and who was not, did they ask you if you wanted to stay home? NO, they demanded it and most complied.
The Holodomor Horror.
I want others, especially preppers, to understand that in the near future this could very well be the reality here in this country. Many of you will disregard this as (This will never happen here.) I do know that many Jews said the same and ignored the warning signs as the Nazi regime became more and more hostile to the Jewish people.
During the Holodomor in Soviet Ukraine from 1932-1933, the Soviet secret police, known as the NKVD, were tasked with enforcing the government's grain procurement policies.
The Soviet government had requisitioned the majority of the grain in the country to sell abroad and fund industrialization, leading to widespread famine and starvation among the Ukrainian population.
The NKVD would go door-to-door, searching for hidden food and grain. In some cases, they would take away not only the grain, but also any household items that could be sold for food, such as cooking utensils, livestock, or even clothes. The secret police were ruthless in their pursuit of grain, and anyone caught hoarding food or attempting to flee the country was punished severely.
In one particular incident, a group of peasants in the village of Lysychansk were accused of hoarding grain. The NKVD arrived in the village and arrested the accused peasants. They were taken to the local police station, where they were beaten and tortured until they confessed to their alleged crimes.
The following day, the peasants were lined up against a wall and shot. Their bodies were left in the street as a warning to others who might consider hoarding food. This was not an isolated incident, but rather one of many brutal acts committed by the Soviet government in their efforts to control the food supply and suppress dissent during the Holodomor.
If this story seems dated I get it, it’s nearly hundred years old. However, the Holodomor was caused by the Government thinking that it could farm better than farmers. Creating regulations, and outlawing what they deemed outdated and dangerous methods of farming.
The story is based on historical accounts of the Holodomor, a man-made famine that occurred in Soviet Ukraine from 1932-1933. The specific details of the secret police force searching for hidden food and grain are well-documented in a variety of sources, including academic studies, eyewitness accounts, and survivor testimonies.

I truly believe that the same thing that happened then is happening to us today.
